I’m Melissa Fox, founder of Fox Tutoring Academy
Literacy coach, mentor, and parent. What began as a personal mission to help my own daughter overcome reading challenges has grown into a full-service academy designed to support students, families, and educators at every stage of learning.

A simple, parent-friendly check-in to understand your child’s strengths and areas for growth. No formal testing — just clarity.
3. Personalized Reading & Writing Plan
You’ll receive a customized plan tailored to your child’s age, skills, and learning needs.
4. Begin Enrichment Sessions
Your child begins weekly sessions designed to build decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing confidence.
5. Ongoing Communication
You’ll get regular progress updates and optional at-home activities to support learning.

Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Melissa, founder of Fox Tutoring Academy and mom to two incredible kids who helped shape this journey.
I started this work after watching my own daughter struggle with reading in second grade. Even though she had early success, she hit a wall with decoding and comprehension. I stepped in as both a parent and an educator, and together we worked to rebuild her confidence and her skills.
What started as something personal quickly turned into something much bigger.
As a longtime educator, I’ve seen how many children are falling behind in reading. When I learned that more than 60 percent of fourth graders in the U.S. aren’t reading at grade level, I knew I had to take action.
I created Fox Tutoring Academy to be a trusted place where families can get the help they need with real, effective reading & writing support that makes a difference.
At Fox Tutoring Academy, literacy is at the heart of everything we do. We help young children build strong reading & writing skills and support homeschool families with structure and strategy.

1. What are your qualifications?
With over 30 years of experience in education, I’ve dedicated my career to helping students overcome reading challenges in order to reach their full potential. I hold a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, which has provided me with a deep understanding about how to create effective learning plans that truly support student growth. As a reading coach and mentor, I’ve supported other educators by implementing research-based strategies that improve student outcomes. Additionally, I have extensive experience in English language development, giving me the skills to support students who are learning English as a second language.
2. What subjects do you tutor?
At Fox Tutoring Academy, we specialize in reading instruction for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Our focus is on the five key areas of reading with current research based instructional practices. We also integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills into our lessons to provide a well-rounded approach to literacy.
In addition, we focus on building strong writing skills, from basic sentence structure to more advanced writing techniques and genres.
3. What is your tutoring approach?
We use a personalized, student-centered approach. Learning is made fun and meaningful with creative activities, real-world examples, and an interactive online platform called Funclass. This platform allows for engaging lessons that keep your child focused and motivated from anywhere.
4. How will you assess my child's progress?
We regularly assess each student’s progress through informal assessments, observations, and feedback. We provide updates to parents re: improvement and adjust our teaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous growth. You may ask for a mini assessment after 6-8 weeks for an additional fee.
5. What are your fees?
Tutoring fees are $100 per hour for individual sessions. Ask me about my tutoring bundles as well.
In addition to personalized, 1:1 tutoring, my fee includes access to a convenient online platform for at-home learning, as well as additional materials to support your child’s progress.
